I really didn’t recover good after the Mini three weeks ago. My legs were tired, then I started having some stomach pains, and hip pains, and I really wasn’t running that much.
But I went out on Saturday to the Monon Greenway and was able to make it 9.4 miles. That’s the longest I’ve done since the Mini. I made sure to take it nice and slow, and even forced myself to slow down when I felt I was speeding up. I really didn’t have any pains, and save for the bathroom break at the turn around point, I was able to run the whole way. I was actually pretty pleased with myself.
I had been thinking about dropping down to the 8k race for the Carmel Marathon, but I think I’ll stick with the Half now. Yipee! I was never intending on “racing” it, more of a long training run to keep up my fitness before the start of Monumental Marathon training. I feel like I’m on track now.
And along the way I ran in to BgKahuna (@BgKahuna) out doing his 16 miles in preparation for running the Carmel Marathon. He ran with me for about half a mile before going back to his preferred speed. Always nice to run in to someone you know when you’re running. I think Mr. Kahuna normally tweets during his runs, not sure how he doesn’t walk right off the side of the trail.
