So, I’ve neglected the blog. But I haven’t neglected my running, and the Indy Monumental Half Marathon is this coming Saturday.
I got in 10 mile and 7 mile runs on the Monon the past couple Saturday’s. It was pleasant enough, and I kinda liked seeing other people the entire time. Good change of pace from running around the hood.
I’m not nearly as fast as I was when I ran the Mini in May. I’ll be surprised if I go under 2 hours for the 13.1 miles. I’ve one a single 10 mile run, the same as I did for the mini, but I’m just not feeling quite as confident. I’m a little heavier and my training was hampered by my foot injury. We will see!
Tonight’s run was a 5.25 miles at right around 9:00 average pace. I did a 1 mile warmup, 15 minutes at a quicker pace, 2 miles slower, 12 minutes quicker, and finally not quite a mile slower.
Friday after work I’ll head down to the Indy Convention Center for the packet pick up. Just a little annoying that they can’t mail out the bibs, I think. It’s predicted to be around freezing when the race starts, so I’ll be sporting a trash bag as I wait for the gun. I’m thinking that I’ll wear shorts, long sleeve shirt, and a vest. Probably have on gloves until I get warmed up. I wore pants last weekend during warmer temps, but I was a little warm, so I think the shorts will be good as I warm up and as the sun rises.
