So this afternoon was my first “official” long run of my marathon training. I’ve laid out a calendar using Hal Higdon’s Novice 1 program. I counted backwards from November 6th, so today was the 9 mile run.
It actually wasn’t that bad. I was fortunate in that the temp was right below 70 degrees when I finally decided to get out the door at 2:15PM. I managed to finish the 9 miles in 1:25:36 for an average pace of 9:33. Not too bad for me. I’d be happy if I could do 26.2 miles at that pace. I was soaked in sweat afterwards, and so was the hat. I stood at the end of the driveway and a small puddle formed from sweat dripping from the brim of my hat. Loved it!
My legs? Oh, they were fine, thanks. The Brooks Ravenna seem to be doing the trick for me. Yipee!
